Reed Elggren Morrison passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the age of
93.
He was born March 18, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Arthur William and Esther Elizabeth
Elggren Morrison 20 minutes before his identical twin brother Grant.
They were the
youngest of nine children.
He was a very kind and gentle man who loved everyone and had a wonderful sense of
humor. At the age of three he fell out of a second story window at his home leaving him
legally blind. Reed graduated from South High School in 1938 where he was a cheerleader
and member of the glee club. He attended Utah State University for a short time.
He married
Carol June Morris on Feb. 14, 1943. They had four children, one son died in infancy. She passed away May 20, 1989
and the marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple a year later.
He married Janet Marble Nov. 9, 1990 in the Salt
Lake Temple and was blessed with five stepsons. She passed away July 12, 2014.
Despite his handicap, Reed was able to provide a good living for his family, sometimes working three jobs. He retired
from his full time job at the Safeway Bread Plant in 1987. He worked for the Newspaper Agency Corp. (now Media One),
getting subscriptions for its newspapers from the 1950s through 2014 when he was nearly 92.
He was very successful
because of his genuinely charming demeanor and the ability to take no for an answer better than anyone. He loved to
sing and had a beautiful voice. He was always singing no matter what he was doing.
He loved the Lord and he loved his
family, especially his children unconditionally.
Reed is survived by his three children Denny (Susan) Morrison, Steven Morrison, and Patti (Jerry) Jennings, stepsons
Dan (Jana) Marble, Rob (Mary) Marble, Colin Marble, daughter-in-law Marleen Marble, sister Marjorie Holm,
grandchildren Micky (Julie) Bailey, Violet Morrison, Traci (Steve) Kenyon, Kirk (Lauren) Jennings and five great-grandchildren.
Combined with Janet's family, together they had 40 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren and many
nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.
Also preceded in death by his brothers Wendell, Clarence, Francis, Fred
and his twin brother William Grant Morrison, sisters Jenna Vee Hammon and Anna Marie Kalmar, stepsons Teryl and
Kevin Marble.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Inspiration Hospice for their excellent and attentive care.
